In this final episode of The Cry, the drama reaches its conclusion and finally the truth must come out.

​Flashing back to the day they arrived in Australia on the road from Melbourne to Wilde Bay, a distressed Joanna and Alistair try to work out what has happened, and we get closer to the truth.

A distressed Joanna and Alistair watch as the police search Elizabeth's house.  Rattled by the investigation and Joanna's behaviour, Alistair tries to uncover what the police know.

The police investigation begins to focus on Joanna and Alistair, as Detective Peter Alexiades (Alex Dimitriades) and Lorna Jones (Shareena Clanton) arrive at Elizabeth’s (Stella Gonet) with a warrant to search the house and the couple’s belongings.

The couple appear in a television interview, recounting the tragic story.

Alistair, rattled by the police investigation and Joanna’s increasingly uncontrollable behaviour, goes to the police station to try and uncover what the police know.

The search for Noah leads to an arrest, but it soon becomes clear that not everything is as it seems.

As the police investigation ramps up, the world’s media descends on the small town of Wilde Bay to report on the terrible and mysterious events of the previous night.

Joanna (Jenna Coleman) and Alistair (Ewen Leslie) face scrutiny on social media; a horrified Joanna creates a fake online identity and begins to take part in the online discussions.

Cracks appear in Alistair and Joanna’s relationship as they both try to cope in different ways with the unrelenting presence of the media and the police, as well as their personal and private emotions.

Joanna becomes increasingly haunted and obsessed by the online commentators, who seem determined to solve the mystery.

Filming for The Cry has begun with Jenna Coleman (Victoria, Doctor Who) and Ewen Leslie (Safe Harbour, Top of the Lake) being joined by Stella Gonet (The Crown, House of Elliott), Sophie Kennedy Clark (Philomena, The Danish Girl) and Australian actors Asher Keddie (X Men: Origins, Offspring), Alex Dimitriades (Seven Types of Ambiguity), Markella Kavenagh (Romper Stomper) and Shareena Clanton (Wentworth) in the four-part thrilling, psychological BBC One drama written by Jacquelin Perske, adapted from the novel by Helen FitzGerald.

Filming in Scotland and Australia and directed by Glendyn Ivin (Safe Harbour, Gallipoli, The Beautiful Lie), The Cry is the first scripted television commission for Scottish-based production company Synchronicity Films.

Joanna (Coleman) and her husband Alistair (Leslie), travel with their baby from Scotland to Australia to see Alistair’s mother, Elizabeth (Gonet) and to fight for custody of Alistair’s daughter Chloe (Kavenagh) against his Australian ex-wife Alexandra (Keddie). However, when they arrive in Australia, Joanna and Alistair are forced to face an unthinkable tragedy that changes their lives and their marriage forever.  It is the catalyst for a journey into the disintegrating psychology of a young woman, exposing the myths and truths of motherhood.

The Cry is a four-part dramatical series consisting of 60 minute installments written by Jacquelin Perske.

The drama will be produced by Brian Kaczynski and Executive Produced by Claire Mundell for Synchronicity Films and Elizabeth Kilgarriff and Gaynor Holmes for BBC One.

The Cry is currently being filmed in and around Melbourne, Australia and Glasgow, Scotland with the support of Film Victoria and Creative Scotland.

JENNA COLEMAN TO LEAD THE BRITISH SIDE IN NEW BBC/ABC DRAMA - THE CRY

​Jenna Coleman (Victoria, Doctor Who) and Ewen Leslie (Safe Harbour, Top of the Lake) star in The Cry, a four-part thrilling, psychological BBC One drama written by Jacquelin Perske, adapted from the novel by Helen FitzGerald.

Filming in Scotland and Australia and directed by Glendyn Ivin (Safe Harbour, Gallipoli, The Beautiful Lie), The Cry is the first scripted television commission for Scottish-based production company Synchronicity Films.

On being cast in The Cry, Jenna Coleman says:

“I first read Jacquelin Perske's script on a plane, it felt like walking a tightrope, racing page to page, unsettling, unknowable, uncomfortable, and thrilling.  I look forward to tackling this challenge and bringing it to the screen with such a talented team in Glendyn Ivin, Brian Kaczynski and Claire Mundell with Synchronicity Films and the BBC.”

Ewen Leslie, who is representing Australia in The Cry, has also spoke out about being a part of this new drama.
